FLAMENCO FIRE HEATS UP THE NORTHERN BEACHES
DIRECT FROM SPAIN AND NOW AN AVALON BEACH LOCAL, MARINA TAMAYO IS ONE OF THE FINEST FLAMENCO TALENTS TO PERFORM AND TEACH IN AUSTRALIA. FOLLOWING THEIR SELL OUT SHOW LAST YEAR AT THE AVALON BEACH RSL HER LOCAL TROUPE, FLAMENCO DEL MAR (FLAMENCO FROM THE SEA) INTERNATIONAL AND INVITED GUEST ARTISTS PERFORM TWO EXCITING SHOWS AT THE MANLY BOATSHED ON JUNE 30TH AND AT THE AVALON BEACH RSL ON JULY 1ST (SORRY AVALON SOLD OUT)
Maestro Antonio Vargas of Strictly Ballroom fame (the father who teaches Paul Mercurio how to pasa doblé) is flying in direct from Spain to perform, while guest artist Roshanne Wijeyaratne whom is one of Australia\'s finest young female Flamenco artists seen in Australia today, is flying in from Interstate.
Talented young Flamenco Guitarist/Composer Aloysius Leeson has been invited to feature at this years performance along with inspiring and talented Flamenco Guitarist local David Holberton, both will be accompanied by the flamboyant Percussionist/Cajon player Stuart Henderson.
Flamenco Singer Mari Olivares is also flying in for the shows to sing selected songs from the south of Spain including Fandangos de Huelva, Alegrias, Seguiriyas and Soleares.
In “tablao” style, the presentation will not be unlike what is seen in the bars and cafes in Spain. The intimate setting where dancers perform up close and personal, within the audience space provides a powerful and moving experience.
International flamenco dancer, teacher, performer and choreographer, Tamayo, strives to develop a strong platform of support for aspiring artists in all dance classes of all levels. As well as local classes in Avalon and Manly she also works with classes in Spain in Granada, Andalucia, Santiago de Compostela and Galicia.
Marina promises that the evening will excite the senses, raise the adrenaline and inspire you with the rhythm and moving passion of Flamenco.
Enjoy the sweet sounds of strumming Spanish guitars, castanet playing and rapid fire footwork providing an Andalucian experience a little closer to home on the Northern Beaches.
